Orpheum Theatre (4 blocks) - The Historic Orpheum theatre in downtown Minneapolis is a fine
place to see a concert, play, or other type of show. This theatre was built in the early 1920's and
it's elegance and grandeur has been restored. Back in the early 1980's, previous owners had modernized,
and slightly destroyed the place by draping or painting over grand, guilded beautiful architecture.
In the 1990's it was restored to it's beautiful old glory. The place is huge; it seats 2400 people,
with it's main floor and balcony seating. When you walk into the huge theatre and get a glimpse of its
guilded ceiling and huge chandeliers, you will feel like you are taking a step back into the old vaudeville
days of 1930.
Children's Theatre Company (1.2 miles) - The 2003 recipient of the Tony® Award for Outstanding
Regional Theatre, The Children's Theatre Company is acclaimed as America's flagship theatre for young
people and families, serving over 350,000 people each year.
Guthrie Theatre (1.5 miles) - A Tony Award-winning theater. Includes new 1,100-seat auditorium,
700-seat proscenium stage, 250-seat studio theater, new classrooms and food service.
Museums
Mill City Museum (1.4 miles) - An attraction for all ages, Mill City Museum chronicles the
flour milling industry that dominated world flour production for roughly a half-century and fueled
the growth of Minneapolis, recognized across the nation and around the world as "Mill City."
Frederick R. Weisman Arts Museum (2.5 miles) - Housed in a striking stainless steel and brick
building designed by architect Frank Gehry, the Weisman Art Museum offers an educational and friendly
museum experience. The museum's collection features early 20th century American artists such as Georgia
O'Keeffe and Marsden Hartley, as well as a diverse selection of contemporary art.
Science Museum of Minnesota (10 miles) - The Science Museum of Minnesota is the most popular
museum in the Upper Midwest. Featuring dinosaurs, Omnitheater & hands-on exhibits
Outdoor Attractions
Sculpture Gardens (1 mile) - The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden is located on Vineland Place,
across from the Walker Art Center and Guthrie Theater. The 11-acre garden is a joint project of the
Walker Art Center and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. The Park Board maintains the Garden
grounds and provides a public information staff in the Cowles Conservatory. The Walker Art Center
oversees all artistic programs, including exhibitions of works of art, performances, and educational
activities that take place in the Garden.
Chain of Lakes (3 miles) - Four of the lakes in south Minneapolis provide a chain perfectly
suited to canoeing. Launch at the access at the northeast shore of Lake Calhoun. Paddle around a bit
on Calhoun, dodging the sailboats moored at the north end of the lake. Then head through the channel
at the north end of the lake into Lake of the Isles. The two islands on Isles offer a refuge for
wildlife, including great blue herons and black-crowned night herons.
Minnesota Zoo (18 miles) - Come visit the dolphins, tigers, monkeys and more at the Minnesota
Zoo 363 days a year. The Zoo features a tropical rain forest, a marine center, northern tundra,
woodland forest and a family farm. With more than 2,000 spectacular animals from around the world,
you're bound for a new adventure on every visit.

Nicollet Mall (1 block) - The Nicollet Mall is an upscale shopping and dining district designed
to appeal to the white-collar workers who form much of downtown Minneapolis's daytime community.
It includes office buildings, most notably the IDS Center, and department stores such as Macy's and
Neiman Marcus.
Mall of America (12 miles) - The Mall of America, Bloomington has it all. Located in the heart
of Bloomington and the Twin Cities area, the "Mall" is the largest mall in the USA. People from all

Minneapolis Convention Center (0.5 miles) - Located in the heart of the downtown hosts events

Metrodome (1 mile) - In addition to being the home of the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings and
